What’s This?

So what is this blog and why is it here?

Simply put, it’s a place for me (as GM) and players to record our play through of The Enemy Within campaign for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WHFRP).
Somewhere to keep tabs on where we’ve been, who we’ve met who we’ve killed/stolen from/generally annoyed as we wind our way through the Old World. There might be recaps of adventures, character profiles, rules musings and evocative imagery. Maybe. Honestly, I don’t really know, its just a handy place to stick stuff for now.

I’m not really expecting anyone to read this but I’m going to write some gubbins here, anyway;
The Enemy Within is a famous campaign I remember hearing about when I first started roleplaying. For many years I’ve been (rather half-heartedly, to be honest) been trying to track down the individual versions of the campaign with the intention of one day running it. But some of them have proved very elusive. Still, I do have a first edition copy of Shadows over Bogenhafen with all the handouts which I’m quite proud of…

Anyway, when Cubicle 7 announced they were releasing an up to date anniversary edition of the full campaign, it was my chance to jump on the bandwagon and I went all in! I had run some WHFRP campaigns in the past and the rules didn’t seem to have changed that much, so it was easy enough to get started and crack on.

(Incidentally, character creation was very satisfying in this edition – the crazy randomness from the original was still there but now it works in a more integrated way, meaning you can tailor your character more to your design, or just let the dice totally decide.)

Anyway, with four players and one GM gathered, none of whom had played The Enemy Within campaign before, we were all set to start our epic adventure. Now I just have to hope that the campaign lives up to its reputation, as I may have over-hyped it a bit…
